Amadeus W. (2015): “When you know you are in nothing, you are not. Only, after you dissolved, there is nothing.”

The following is a compilation of the components of the cosmos in a way they make sense to me.

The five Elements of the Cosmos

Many of the old wisdoms arrange their knowledge in a structure of five elements. The magic of and in those structures has lead me to some understanding and later, after a prolonged time of unlearning and un-understanding, to experiences with no words and no knowledge.

The following is a summary of accepted knowledge… and my experiences gathered during many visits in/out there … accompanied with the difficulties to express them in words.  Perhaps, I could start painting, again.  I have written about this dilemma in an essay called How to say it?

First Element

2400 years ago Democritus (second comment up there, in the title) used a short, simple word: kenon, the absolute empty, unlimited space. Kenon has the ability to hold any kind of matter, fields and energies and other, yet unknown things.

Second Element

In kenon, sporadically spread around, indivisible, identical parts float around, at a ratio of 1/1016to 1/1020, meaning: 0. followed by 16 to 20 zeroes and then one 1.  Democritus called these tiny things atomos (from atomon = uncuttable) or atomus in the plural. Unfortunately, science has confiscated this word and misuses it, since the early 1800s.

However, not to worry, there are other languages, besides ancient Greek that can offer a word for indivisible. In search of a word to replace atomos, I followed these general thoughts:

People create a word because they know of something, which is important enough to them, so that they want to talk about it, often.  Because they use it often, they create a word for it, instead of describing it.  I wrote about this topic, needing a particular word High Distinction.

The simpler a word (and often more beautiful), the earlier it has been formed, older its place in a language.

This word and its meaning must play a significant part in the culture and thinking of those people for a long time; otherwise, it would have been forgotten.

Here is a collection of translations for indivisible into several languages as suggested by Google translator. I sorted them in the sequence of my preference.

I like the word karo very much.  It sounds good with kenon: Kenon and Karo.

I did not know much about the Somali.  Therefore I searched around. They have been around since the Stone Age and were some of the first to tame camels. Their developmental stage and progress were equal to Egypt. The Silk Road passed through Somalia, which demonstrates its importance to the world.  (The Silk Road was the main trading route from central Europe to China operating from about 100 BC to 1450.)

That’s settled, then. The smallest components of the cosmos, the absolute indivisible is called karo.

For karo the tiniest absolute something, not to dissipate into the absolute emptiness, kenon, there must be a powerful something (like an energy), which hold is together (this is not the right expression, but I cannot say it more appropriately).  It is the power? of existence.

Third Element

In this stage, some karos form structures. There is in-struction amongst karos.  It moves them within a structure and loosely holds them in their position. Not a force or energy field, something other, very gentle and caring.

This is a field within the structure, an in-formation, perhaps the law of life. It is a strength created through being close, holding the same in-tention, exactly like synergy.

Fourth Element

At a higher level of freedom, karos float in kenon, freely scattered all over the place. I sense a longing among them, which moves karos towards each other, giving them in-struction, in-formation thus guiding them so that they can settle into a structure, the third element. It is something amongst them but not part of them. No ownership.

They want it jointly, simultaneously, innately, and mutually. It is an attraction with no potential or polarity (positive/negative, North Pole/South Pole). It is a field of passion amongst karos, which unintentionally causes them wanting to be together. Gravitating towards each other. Gravity is like a longing, a desire/passion for being close.

Fifth Element

Behind all is IS.

This sounds grant; however, it does not satisfy me… allow me to reminisce.

As an ingeneer student, in physics, I was introduced to entropy, a property of systems, all and any system. It fascinated me.  And, please, keep on reading, the ingeneering component is not too involving but worthwhile understanding.  The result of this paper will be more meaningful to you.

Entropy represents and describes the amount of order or chaos of items within a system, where a high level of entropy accounts for a high level of disorder or chaos.  Order (low entropy) is created through inputting of energy into a system.  Energy, which has been taken from the chaotic vicinity around the ordered field, which causes an increase of entropy (chaos) around it.

Much later, after university, my mind expanded this way of seeing matter, including the whole universe. How surprised was I, when I found during searching information for this paper that the discoverer of entropy, the quality of space and matter, Rudolf Clausius in 1865, had spoken about this law for defined systems.  He said: “The amount of energy in the universe is constant,” and “The entropy of the universe tends to a maximum.”  Think about what this means.

Before he coined the word entropy (Greek ≈ conversion), he used the word Anordnungsfreiheit (German) meaning: “the amount of freedom to choose a position within a given formation.”  I like that.

Since I am a visual person, I imagine the situation of high entropy as a large calm water surface. Somewhere, some added energy forces water to rise up and form a column, thus causing waves of varying entropy in its vicinity. It stays there until the sustaining energy flow is interrupted or exhausted, and then the column collapses.

The image shows a column caused by a water drop hitting the water surface. The kinetic energy of the water drop is transformed into creating and holding the column for a short while. It is a good representation of energy entering into and affecting the equilibrium of entropy.

Scientists are baffled when areas or systems of order arise spontaneously, like galaxies, microbes or human beings.  If they had read the above, they would know.

At maximum entropy, the distribution of karos within kenon is at equilibrium, the backdrop for all and everything to occur.   Exposed to passion, karos approach each other and form structures and shapes. Synergy holds them in position and somewhere life comes in, to maintain the structure.

The situation in stage 3 as I described before, can be seen, as many drops of water falling onto a water surface, like during heavy rainfall.

I am not saying that the fifth element is identical to the physical state of matter at high entropy. However, it feels that the quality, the spirit of entropy comes closest to what I feel the fifth element to be.

Elements in a Circle

I drew the five elements like all the older wisdoms drew it, like a circle. I am most familiar with the Japanese style and I know, there are reasons for positioning the elements in the circle.

I sense a cyclic motion of creativity. It has no beginning, but for the purpose of explaining, I begin with entropy.

Let’s say, somehow, energy enters into entropy and out of kenon karos rise up. Desire moves karos to join each other and synergy keeps them in structure. When the energy is exhausted the structure dissolves, and the freed karos falls back into the lake of entropy.

I feel a sense of rightness about the circle of the cosmos, which I cannot explain. If it is meant to be, the information will arrive, indubitably. At this moment, all I sense is: when all this comes together, it forms the One, which is All, the reason for all being One.

Perhaps, there is no need to explain.
